On September 23, 2018, Rev. Steven D. Neville, PhD was installed as the eighth pastor of Metropolitan ​Baptist Church, Dorchester, Massachusetts.

Reverend Steven Neville is a native of the Roxbury section of Boston, Massachusetts.  He is the son of Jeanette Neville and Richard Wood.    Pastor Neville was educated in the Boston Public School System where he graduated from the Boston Latin School with the class of 1980.  He received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Dartmouth College in 1984, a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 1989, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2017.

Reverend Neville received a pre-ordination license to preach in September of 1987.  He served as an associate minister with Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Brockton, Massachusetts, Butler Street Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and Zion Hill Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where he was ordained in July of 2001.  He also served as an interim pastor for the Redemption Community Church in East Point, Georgia, and as assistant pastor at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Brockton, Massachusetts.

Reverend Neville also serves presently as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Massachusetts Boston with responsibility for Social Justice Leadership and Service. In this role he provides leadership for student multicultural affairs, student leadership and community engagement and for programs designed to support students in meeting their basic needs. His professional experience includes 17 years of service in higher education administration, as well as 12 years of information systems consulting and project management in the manufacturing and distribution industry where he implemented large-scale software applications for medium to large companies around the United States.

Reverend Neville was married to the late Yolanda A. (Finch) Neville for 31 years until her heavenly transition after a well-fought 3-year battle with cancer. Their union was blessed with 3 sons
Stephan (Christine), Malcolm (Bridget) and Jaris and two grandsons Elisha James & Jayce Richard 

With much integrity and strength, Reverend Neville continued to lead his family and church family and after much prayer, God blessed him to begin a new chapter in his life on December 5, 2020 when he married Minister Arnetta D. (Giles).
Together, they serve as Pastor and Minister of Metropolitan Baptist Church and make their home in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
